In New York, during the one week when the city becomes the capital of the world alongside the UN General Assembly, I walked into the halls of the Concordia Annual Summit 2023, one of the most concentrated gatherings of influence and intention anywhere on earth. It was not another entry in the conference calendar; it was a genuine crucible where ideas are smelted: policymakers beside CEOs, activists debating investors, innovators pitching answers to the most urgent challenges of our time.
From the first moment, I felt I was walking inside what practitioners of this field call convening power: that rare capacity to seat divergent stakeholders, governments, private sector, civil society, around one table, where speeches turn into executable partnerships. The halls hummed with conversations on sustainability, technology, policy, and entrepreneurship, and the greatest privilege was not merely to listen but to engage: I met decision-makers, corporate leaders, and activists in exchanges that opened windows onto global issues from angles I had never occupied.
Immersed as I am in technology, community development, and entrepreneurship, I found the summit an open mine. The discussions cemented a conviction that grows in me year after year: real change is never manufactured by a single institution, however mighty, it is produced by cross-sector coalitions that share both the risk and the vision. Attending was not passive listening; it was trading perspectives, building bridges, and jointly searching for avenues of action, which expanded my knowledge and my network at once, in ways I had not anticipated.
Networking at Concordia does not resemble the business-card exchange of conventional events; it is an investment in social capital in its deepest sense: authentic connections with leaders across sectors and countries that may ripen, tomorrow, into collaborations and ventures. And as a content creator, I saw in every session material worth carrying outward: on Instagram I shared the backstage moments and the pulse of the halls; on LinkedIn I went deeper into the major takeaways and how such conversations can fuel entrepreneurs like me so that my audience became a partner in the experience rather than a spectator of it.
I left the summit with one conviction, simple and large: dialogue conducted with the intention to act stops being a diplomatic luxury and becomes an instrument of change. And that is precisely the role of influencers, entrepreneurs, and change-makers in our era: to sit where decisions are drafted, and to retell what happens there for an audience that deserves to know.
I am grateful for every conversation, every handshake, every idea I carried out of New York, and determined to convert them into content, relationships, and projects. Here's to a future shaped by shared tables, not high walls.
